The Brief

The Edmonton Centre brings together a completely refurbished library set over 2 floors and the Council’s Customer Access facilities. FG Library & Learning worked with Ingleton Wood Consultancy and Enfield Council to create a vibrant, multi-functional public space.

The Solution

The ground floor is aimed at users ‘quickly popping in’ to pick up/return a book, or complete enquiries on line or by phone in the customer access area for other council services. There is also a vibrant and colourful children’s area that is easily accessible for parents with buggies, with plenty of flexible space for rhymetime and events. The remaining ground floor is a homework/study area with bookable PCs, printing facilities, scanners, and interview rooms for private meetings.

The first floor is the main Library Hub, with a buzzing ‘Teen’ space. Also PCs, gadget bars, and a huge study area with integrated charging points, ‘eating/seating area’, museum display, and hireable community rooms.

A stunning mix of our Landscape shelving in the children’s zone and Latitude shelving in the main library hub provides flexible space for books and multi-media in ‘zoned’ areas. With shelving for over 30,000 books and over 100 bookable PCs, this is truly a modern space for users of all ages.
