The Brief
The design process for Pencoed Library started with a thorough needs assessment and community consultations to understand the specific requirements of library users and the town’s residents. The aim was to create a dynamic and flexible space that accommodates various activities while enhancing user experience.
The primary objective of the refurbishment was to create a multi-purpose hub that offers a diverse range of functionalities. To achieve this, FG Library & Learning introduced innovative furniture solutions such as the Oasis Soft Hub and Element Recharge from Identity Furniture. These additions allowed the library to provide spaces suitable for hosting events, workshops, and activities, as well as catering to individuals seeking quiet study or group collaboration.
The Solution
Children’s Area
A significant focal point of the refurbishment was the creation of a bright and engaging children’s area. The hideaway reading nook, featuring integrated LED lighting, is a captivating spot for children to immerse themselves in books and stories.
Flexible Furniture & Spacious Layout
FG Library & Learning installed flexible furniture throughout the ground floor, utilising Landscape Library Shelving on castors and Elements display range. The use of movable furniture allowed for easy reconfiguration of spaces based on specific needs or events.
