The Brief
Beacon Rise Primary School is located on the outskirts of Bristol, situated amongst large playing fields and on a hill that has magnificent views across Bristol and towards the City of Bath.
The schools aim is to provide an environment that is secure, stimulating, supportive and memorable which we mirrored in our design for the new library and learning space.
The Solution
The main feature of the library design was a bespoke ‘reading tree’ for the children which acted as a focal point in the hall. Standing at almost 3 meters tall this imposing structure fitted perfectly with the wonderful high ceilings in the space.
Around the reading tree it was important to offer a wide range of soft seating and reading tables, where individuals or groups could read and study.
